Dear Kirkland 4th of July supporter:
We are excited to announce our upcoming 76
h
Annual Kirkland Lions
Club 4th of July Celebration. We have continued to be the LARGEST
fireworks show in Northern Illinois. In 2018 we were ranked #4 and in
2015, we were ranked #7 in the state of Illinois! We are excited to once
again bring the greatest small town festival to life in 2024!
The Kirkland Lions Club is a non-profit organization that depends not
only on our members to serve our community, but also on our
community members to help us fund those in need. The 4th of July
Celebration is our main fundraiser each year. We have been able to
prosper and serve our community each year with the support of local
businesses and individuals who sponsor our not-for-profit event.

Dear Potential Volunteer,
Every year over several days, we put on the premier 4th of July Festival in
Northern Illinois. We do this through many months of planning, coordination,
and execution. We accomplish this by working together with many local
organizations, the tireless efforts of our members, and with the dedication
and support of many volunteers. We are always eager to partner with
individuals, teams, companies and organizations who seek to volunteer their
time in support of their communities.
If you, your company or organization are interested in volunteer
opportunities, we are eager to work with you!

THE RULES
1. Ticket must be legible.
2. Winner must fill out a IRS W-2G Form and taxes will be
withheld from the winnings.
3. Winner must provide a photo-id.
4. Prize money will be dispersed within 30 days to the winner.
5. If the winner does not respond to our attempts to contact
him/her within 5 days of the drawing, Kirkland Lions Club
reserves the right to draw another winner.
6. Raffle chairman reserves the right at his/her sole discretion to
disqualify any person that tampers or attempts to tamper with
the ticketing process.
7. Kirkland Lion's Club 50/50 Raffle will comply with the DeKalb
County Raffle & Poker Run Ordinance rules as well as IRS
rules and laws.

4th of July Queen Contest
When the Queen Contest started in 1952, only one Lions Club served Kirkland, Fairdale and
Monroe Center. In 1955 our Queen was from Monroe Center and in 1956, Monroe Center and
Hiawatha split school districts as Kirkland built a new $800,000 school! In 1952 Queen Ruth
Silvanus Peterson said voting for queen was done as a fundraiser through purchased tickets
and in later years shifted to a panel of judges that would select the queen from candidates.
In 1963, classmates chose candidates on the basis of personality poise and beauty. Winners
were chosen by apanel of community judges on basis of interviews, as well as community
participation.

Kirkland Lions 4th Of July
Annual Celebration
We serve. It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917. Our club is a place where
individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving our community, and the
world. During these unpredictable and unprecedented times the Kirkland Lions Club remains
committed to serve through whatever ways we can. In early March of 2020, we were able to raise over
$2,000.00 for a local food pantry that allowed them to meet the unpredictable surge in need.
The Kirkland Lions Club will remain committed to following local and state guidelines to protect the
health of our members, volunteers, and supporters. As always all funds and donations to the Kirkland
Lions Club are used to support local and regional Lions initiatives including area non-profits. We
accept general donations electronically and through conventional means.
As always please stay connected to the Kirkland Lions Club social media accounts for continued
updates on potential events, news or opportunities as we release additional information.
We are so grateful and encouraged by the continued support and dedication to our mission. Your

Rules governing our tournament are those outlined by the American Corn Hole Assoc.
